  • Are MunChi's Pretzels dairy and egg free and safe for individuals with nut allergies?
    Yes, all our traditional, authentic Bavarian pretzels at MunChi German Food are vegan and nut-free. However, we prepare our food in a commissary kitchen where cross-contamination could occur. While we take care to avoid any contamination, we cannot 100% guarantee that our pretzels will be free from any allergen cross-contact. Therefore, if you have a severe allergy, we unfortunately do not recommend our pretzels for you. We advise customers with specific dietary restrictions or severe allergies to consult with us directly so we can provide detailed information and accommodate your needs as best as possible.
  • Does MunChi make Gluten Free Pretzels?
    Even though we would love to, unfortunately it is very hard to make a great gluten free yeast dough, that's then shapable into a pretzel. That doesn't mean we are not trying! We do have a lot of people ask for them, so whenever we discover a new flour or new flour combination, we give it a try! so who knows - maybe one day we'll have THE gluten free pretzel for you :-)
  • How do I bake them?
    When you get the pretzels from us they are already par-baked, which also means, if they defrost a little on your way home it's not a problem - you just pop them right back in the freezer. On bake day: Take desired amount of pretzels from freezer put on lightly greased baking sheet Pre-heat oven to 350F | 180C Add the provided salt to a platter SALTING THE PRETZEL | 2 OPTIONS: (1) When your oven is almost at temp, make your hand wet with water and rub down the pretzel Depending on how much salt you want you either press it heavily or lightly into the salt Bump off excess salt on plate edge (2) Alternatively make pretzel wet with your hand and sprinkle salt on lightly Then bake for about 3-5 mins, until outside feels crispy to your liking Enjoy your pretzel! Be careful, hot pretzels are very hot - please do not bite into a pretzel that is super fresh out of the oven.
